Salcon has won the Gold award in the Relations with Local Communities category at the recent The Star ESG Positive Impact Awards.
The award recognizes Salcon’s positive impact in setting the gold standard by developing and implementing our Salcon Smart water Programme (“SSWP”) to positively impact and strengthen links with the local community within our locality of operations.
All participating companies were evaluated by independent judges based on prescribed criteria across three main ESG pillars namely environmental, social and governance.
Salcon Smart Water Programme (SSWP), is Salcon’s flagship Corporate Responsibility Programme organized in collaboration with Non-Government Organisation, Water Watch Penang (WWP). SSWP is aimed to produce long term outcomes in best water conservation practices by increasing awareness and inculcating a sense of responsibility amongst school children in the Klang Valley. Through SSWP, we provide river water conservation education to the younger generation, to ensure water conservation and its sustainability. To date, more than 3,000 students from 61 schools and 4 orphanage homes have benefited from the programme.
We are proud to announce that Salcon has been honoured with a Gold award in the Asia’s Best Integrated Report (SME) category at the 8th Asia Integrated Reporting Awards (AIRA). The AIRA is widely considered the most distinguished accolade for integrated reporting in the region, and we are humbled to receive this recognition.

The virtual awards ceremony, which took place on 30th March 2023, began with an opening address by the H.E. Ms Kara Owen, the British High Commissioner to Singapore. The awards were revealed by Tom Moody, Regional Director, South East Asia for Climate and Energy and Charis Yeap, Regional Lead for Green Finance at the British High Commission in Singapore, and Elaine Cohen, a well-respected sustainability reporting expert and a member of the ASRA judging panel.
"Salcon has showcased exemplary leadership in integrated reporting," said Rajesh Chhabara, founder of AIRA and Managing Director of CSWorks. He added that the company's integrated report is a best practice example, highlighting its application of integrated thinking and a multi-capital approach to generate long-term value for its shareholders and stakeholders.
Integrated reporting provides a comprehensive and transparent view of an organisation's governance, performance, strategy, and prospects, enabling providers of capital to make informed decisions and assessments. Integrated reporting enables companies to embed long-term sustainability into their business model and helps providers of financial capital make efficient and productive allocation of capital. Investors use integrated reports to assess the organisation's ability to create value in the short, mid, and long term. This has led to the increasing adoption of integrated reporting by companies and market regulators worldwide, backed by investors.
AIRA awards go to integrated reports that demonstrate high-quality, value-creation reporting. The winning reports are selected based on a rigorous assessment process, where an independent judging panel determines the finalists and winners. The judging process not only evaluates the quality of the report but also conducts comprehensive due diligence that takes into account companies' reputations among their stakeholders.
Salcon Berhad has been awarded Silver in the The Edge ESG Awards ceremony, under the Equity - Utilities category.
The award ceremony was organized by The Edge Malaysia in collaboration with Bursa Malaysia Bhd and FTSE Russell to recognise the importance of ESG and the effort that local industry players have put into this area.
As a constituent of FTSE4Good for the past eight consecutive years, the Award is indeed an acknowledgement of Salcon as an ESG leader in Malaysia and will spur us in our continuous efforts in creating shared value and as a driver for sustainable growth and innovation.
Salcon Berhad has won 2 Gold at the Asia Integrated Reporting Awards (AIRA) ceremony for Asia’s Best Integrated Report (First Time) 2021 and Asia’s Best Integrated Report (SME) 2021. In its 7th year, the Asia Integrated Reporting Awards is the most prestigious recognition for integrated reporting.
The virtual awards ceremony began with the opening address by the Guest of Honour, H.E. Ms Kara Owen, the British High Commissioner to Singapore. The ceremony was attended by more than 250 senior business leaders and sustainability practitioners from 16 countries and dignitaries from academia, embassies, trade associations and advocacy organisations. In addition, the ceremony featured fireside chat sessions with some of the award judges.
The 2021 AIRA received 94 entries from eight countries across eight award categories. After the preliminary evaluations, 25 companies from six countries reached the finals. The intensely-contested finals produced 12 winners picking up 21 gold, silver and bronze awards. As AIRA honours integrated reporting leaders, it follows a rigorous assessment process, where an independent judging panel determines the finalists and winners. Judging involves three assessment rounds to select the best in each award category. In addition, the judging process involves comprehensive due diligence that considers companies' reputations among their stakeholders.
The Asia Integrated Reporting Awards recognise growing investor interest in enterprise value creation. Integrated reporting helps companies embed long-term sustainability into their business model. By improving the quality of information, integrated reporting allows providers of financial capital to support the efficient and productive allocation of capital. Investors can use integrated reports to assess the reporting organisation's ability to create value. Backed by investors, the adoption of integrated reporting is on the rise by companies and market regulators worldwide.
Salcon has been conferred Asia’s Best Sustainability Report (within Annual Report) - Bronze at the 2020 Asia Sustainability Reporting Awards, the most prestigious international awards for corporate sustainability reporting in the region. The award ceremony was hosted online due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
An independent panel of judges reviewed 494 entries received from 17 countries across 19 award categories. After the preliminary evaluations, 102 companies from 14 countries made it to the finals. Intensely contested finals produced 40 winners grabbing 57 gold, silver and bronze medals and a Report of the Year award.
Broadcast live, the virtual awards ceremony was attended by more than 250 senior business leaders and sustainability practitioners from 20 countries. Attendees also included dignitaries from academia, embassies, trade associations and advocacy organisations.
ASRA follows a rigorous multi-tier evaluation process. An independent judging panel determines finalists and winners. Evaluation involves three rounds of assessment to select the very best in each award category. In addition to assessing the report quality, comprehensive due diligence considers companies' reputation among their stakeholders as part of the judging process.
