Salcon Engineering Berhad made history after earning recognition from the Malaysia Book of Records (MBOR) for the construction of the longest pipe conveyor system for water treatment waste at 1.918 kilometres as part of Package 3 of the Langat 2 Water Treatment Plant (LRA).
This new pipe conveyor system automatically transfers waste almost two kilometres to a dedicated landfill site near the Bukit Enggang Balancing Reservoir, completely removing heavy vehicles from public roads. The system can transport 120 tonnes of waste hourly during its eight-hour daily operation, eliminating more than 35,000 lorry trips annually, thereby enhancing safety, boosting operational efficiency, and strengthening environmental protection.

Salcon Berhad was honoured with the Asia's Best Sustainability Report (SME) - Gold award at the 9th Asia Sustainability Reporting Awards (ASRA). Winners are selected through rigorous evaluations, involving three rounds of assessment and reputation checks. The 9th edition of ASRA saw participation from leading companies in 15 countries for 17 award categories.
Salcon has won the Gold award in the Relations with Local Communities category at the recent The Star ESG Positive Impact Awards.
The award recognizes Salcon’s positive impact in setting the gold standard by developing and implementing our Salcon Smart water Programme (“SSWP”) to positively impact and strengthen links with the local community within our locality of operations.
All participating companies were evaluated by independent judges based on prescribed criteria across three main ESG pillars namely environmental, social and governance.
Salcon Smart Water Programme (SSWP), is Salcon’s flagship Corporate Responsibility Programme organized in collaboration with Non-Government Organisation, Water Watch Penang (WWP). SSWP is aimed to produce long term outcomes in best water conservation practices by increasing awareness and inculcating a sense of responsibility amongst school children in the Klang Valley. Through SSWP, we provide river water conservation education to the younger generation, to ensure water conservation and its sustainability. To date, more than 3,000 students from 61 schools and 4 orphanage homes have benefited from the programme.
