Salcon Wins RM71.3 Million Water Contract

Subang Jaya, 16 July 2018 - Salcon Engineering Berhad, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Salcon Berhad, is pleased to announce that it has received a Letter of Acceptance dated 12 th July 2018 from the Ministry of Megapolis & Western Development, Sri Lanka for the Design and Building of Ambathale Storm Water Pumping Station in Ambathale, Sri Lanka. The project is funded by World Bank with contract value of USD6.8 million and LKR1.718 billion (equivalent to RM71.3 million) plus relevant taxes, duties and VAT.

The scope of the construction contract includes investigation, detailed design, supply, construction, testing and commissioning of all facilities of Pumping Station inclusive of civil, architectural, mechanical, electrical and instrumentation works. The duration of the project is 21 months and is expected to be completed in 2020.

Upon completion, the pumping station is expected to enhance the conveyance capacity to reduce the flood risk to the Colombo catchment, especially to Parliament Lake and surrounding area whilst minimizing the environmental impact from the proposed improvements and maintaining a sustainable environment.

The Project is expected to contribute positively towards the earnings and net assets of Salcon Group. Salcon has established a foothold in Sri Lanka with completion of 4 major water projects namely Hambantota Water Supply Project, Batticaloa Water Supply Project, Kelani Right Bank Water Supply Project and the Kandana Water Supply Project in the past.
