  • Salcon Berhad has once again stepped up when it matters to hold its 12th annual blood donation drive

SUBANG JAYA, 26 November 2021In response to the Health Ministry (MOH) urging the public to donate blood amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, Salcon Berhad has stepped up to organize its 12th annual blood donation drive to encourage blood donation and to educate the public who may have concerns during the donation process.

“Whilst the country's blood supply has shown good improvement lately, it is extremely important for us to maintain sufficient stock for patients across the nation as well as to help blood supply in states that have experienced an increase in Covid-19 cases. During this pandemic period, we have worked closely with Pusat Darah Negara (PDN) to provide a safe, conducive and comfortable environment for the donation drive.” said Chern Meng Gaik, General Manager – Corporate of Salcon Berhad.

The blood donation drive was held at the Ground Floor of Summit USJ to encourage greater participation as it is more convenient for the community to donate. To further promote the blood donation drive, Salcon also collaborated with Subang Jaya Medical Centre (SJMC) which provided free health screening including glucose, cholesterol, eye sight and flexibility test in a mobile truck for the public, along with free gifts.

The blood donation drive saw a turnout of 66 donors, with 52 pints of blood collected from blood donors and potentially saves up to 156 lives.

“PDN welcomes the Blood Donation Drive initiative by Salcon Berhad, which is now in its twelfth year in collaboration with us. We wish to congratulate Salcon Berhad for upholding its commitment to organise the blood donation drive despite the pandemic and would like to assure that the blood donated during the blood donation drive will be channelled effectively to patient care,” said Dr Che Nurul Ain binti Che Mood, Medical Officer of Pusat Darah Negara.

Salcon Annual Blood Donation Drive is part of the activities organised by Salcon in conjunction with the one-week Safety and Health Campaign 2021 with the theme “Healthy Salcon, Happy Workplace”. The objective of the campaign is to encourage healthy lifestyle among the employees.
