In terms of technology, Salcon is a pioneer to implement the first
Dissolved Air Floatation (DAF) plant in Malaysia. The DAF system uses dissolved air as a separation technique. In this process, flocs are floated
by the dissolved air to the surface, while the clarified water passes through a sand filtration
system. The technique is the most suitable process for highly-colored raw water with low turbidity,
like dam or peat water and the design allows filtration to be ergonomically located to minimise
land requirements and structural costs. Salcon has to-date completed five (5) DAF plants in
Peninsular Malaysia, including the 135 Mld Sg. Terip Water Treatment Plant in Negeri Sembilan in 2002
and 120 Mld Bertam Water Treatment Plant in Melaka in 1998. |
