Safety & health
It is always the Group’s priority to ensure the health and safety of our employees and stakeholders. The Safety, Health and Environment (S.H.E.) Committee is formed to overlook the health and safety issues in the Group. The committee consists of representatives from each departments and is led by the Chief Operating Officer as Chairman of the committee. The Chairman reports to the Executive Deputy Chairman of the Group on any investigation, reports or findings of injury or fatality or other safety and health issues.
The S.H.E. Department closely monitors the number of manhours without Loss Time Injury (LTI) at all our project sites. This is crucial to ensure that project site safety is emphasized, monitored and are being highlighted.
We strive to minimize the possibility of accidents or incidents at the workplace or project sites. Several actions are taken to reduce the risk as well as to create awareness including safety and health risk assessment and briefing before commencement of every new project, minimum once-a-year safety inspection, email alert, safety seminars or training, safety talks, blood donation campaign and annual safety campaign month.
In 2008, Salcon Engineering Berhad was awarded OHSAS 18001:2007 certification (Occupational Health & Safety Assessment Series) which is accredited by the world`s leading certification body, Bureau Veritas Certification (BVC).
