In Wastewater treatment, SALCON provides solutions for the design, construction, operation and maintenance of the Vacuum sewage collection system – a self-cleansing, low maintenance and blockage-free system.
Wastewater collected from the household is discharged by gravity to the collection chamber. When the sewage rises to the predetermined level, the Redivac interface valve opens and a slug of sewage is rapidly forced into the vacuum sewer.
In the vacuum vessel, when sewage reaches the pump cut-in level, the sewage discharge pump transfers sewage to the receiving manhole or sewage treatment plant.
The distinctive advantages of vacuum sewers over conventional gravity systems are: vacuum sewers buried at shallow depths, minimum disruption to the environment, fast installation, no manholes required for change of direction or level, no infiltration which means low treatment cost, no exfiltration which means no contamination, and possibility of phased installation.
The Intermittently Decanted Extended Aeration activated sludge system or also known as IDEA system is the most popular wastewater treatment system adopted by SALCON.
In the IDEA system, wastewater is continuously fed and treated effluent is decanted out on intermittent basis.
Continuous aeration takes place in the Demand Aeration Tank, whereas, in the Intermittent Aeration Tank, aeration process occurs on a preset duration, which followed by settling period and then clear treated effluent is decanted out using the innovative IDEA syphon decanter in decanting period.
IDEA system is a wastewater treatment process which had been developed based on the recognized advantages of Extended Aeration and Sequencing Batch Reactor Processes. As a result of the hybrid process, the system has been proven to offer better treatment efficiency and many other process benefits.
Another versatile technology that SALCON specializes is the Membrane System.
The degree of treatment and removal will depend on the type of membrane used, such as the microfiltration, ultrafiltration, nanofiltration and reverse osmosis membrane.
All Salcon membrane filtration systems are custom engineered to meet the flow and permeate quality based on clients’ requirements.
